I sincerely hope the family of the first child killed in Houston, Texas’ Harrold Independent School District will be comforted by those words from Superintendent David Thweatt. See, the School Board justĀ approved- unanimously – a plan to allow teachers to carry guns in the classroom. Teachers who wish to bring guns will have to be certified to carry a concealed handgun in Texas and get crisis training and permission from school officials, said Thweatt.
Will the first kid get shot by a stray bullet because two teachers get into a lovers’ spat? Will he or she die because the Biology teacher has had his fill of cry-babies that don’t want to dissect a frog? Will the child die because another kid wanted to play a practical joke on his least favorite teacher and it “backfired”?
Well, there are any number of scenarios to choose from. You put loaded guns in the hands of teachers, some child is going to get shot. It’s just common sense…

Huh?
You couldn’t have it anymore backwards if you tried. They are allowing decent, peaceful teachers to carry guns to defend students from crazed shooters. Would you prefer that the students remain sitting ducks as they were at Columbine, Virginia Tech, and the other places were lunatics opened fire?
You are more scared of a responsible adult whose daily job is to care of kids than you are of a wacko adolescent who thinks he is some kind of rogue hero?
Unbelieveable!!!!!

Actually, I’m not an NRA member. I don’t even own a gun. I’ve never shot a gun. Frankly, I’m a bit scared to, and I’m squeamish about killing even a cockroach.
It’s just that I’m even more squamish about innocent kids being gunned down when the gunman could be stopped by an armed person.
The alternative seems to be calling the police to come and sort through the dead bodies for evidence.
